The daily plan is flexible to maximise alignment with the best waves, however here is a general outline of a typical coaching day:

Surf level and progression?
This retreat is ideal for intermediate to advanced surfers. Below we have outlined the recommended minimum and maximum level to get the most out of this retreat.
Minimum level: L2 – You can pass through whitewater, broken waves and catching waves independently. You are riding down the line consistently and looking to improve basic surf technique.
Maximum level: L4 – You are looking to start progressing with barrel riding technique and aerial manoeuvres.
Throughout the week, you’ll work closely with Christian to pinpoint the habits or techniques limiting your performance and refine them to help you break plateaus in your surfing.
With Damara Surf’s unique surf progression program, our personalised and professional approach promises to unlock years of potential and take your skills to the next level.
Yoga
The yoga classes are designed to fit surfers, with or without a yoga experience. Through dynamic and creative vinyasa flow we will target different key movement, to improve flexibilty and balance. With gentle hatha we will focus on stretching muscle group put to a high stress while surfing. Both type of classes will include a meditation/breathing exercise.
Mobility class will provide an upper and lower body mobility routine to help you reach or keep a range of movement essential for your surf practice.

OPTION 1
Let us take care of everything from your arrival at Padang Airport — including return transfers, shared hotel rooms, ferry pickup, and ferry tickets:
- Surfer: €180 (includes 25 kg board bag)
- Adult: €100 (no boards)
OPTION 2
Fly into Padang Airport one night before the retreat start date. Arrange your own accommodation in Padang and book the Mentawai Fast Boat directly at the harbour.

Is this a surf camp or a surf retreat?
Our Mentawais trip is a unique blend of both. While we call it a surf coaching retreat because of the personalised coaching and premium accommodation, it also offers the laid-back, social vibe you’d expect from a classic surf camp. You’ll enjoy daily surf sessions, video analysis, island adventures, and the chance to connect with a like-minded surf community — all in a beautiful, tropical setting.
